Epiphany Sunday at the Church of the Epiphany

Bishop Wimberly's Visit to The Church of the Epiphany
January 6, 2019

Epiphany...

is a Christian feast day that celebrates the revelation of God incarnate as Jesus Christ. In Western Christianity, the feast commemorates principally (but not solely) the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child, and thus Jesus' physical manifestation to the Gentiles.

In Western Christianity: commemoration of the Adoration of the Magi, with subordinate commemorations of the Baptism of Jesus and the Wedding at Cana
----------

Epiphany marks the end of the 12 days of the Christmas Season.

Epiphany is celebrated as a fixed date of January 6th.

Since Epiphany is the namesake of the Church of the Epiphany, it is only celebrated on a Sunday every 6 years.

This makes it an extra special day, and the 10:30 Eucharist included a Epiphany Pageant which celebrates the Magi's (Three Kings) visit to baby Jesus as presented by children, youth, two sheep,  and several adults.
